Call for Expression of Interest – Technical Workshop on Survey Methodology

The AERC is organizing a technical workshop to enhance the skills of researchers in Survey Methodology. The technical workshop will take place from September 29 – October 10, 2014 at a venue to be communicated later. The advanced course in survey methodology will be a combination of lectures, tutorials and exercises.

The course will cover several topics on Survey Methodology including principals of survey design; issues in survey implementation, introduction to the software to be used, construction of sampling weights, descriptive analysis of survey data, advanced descriptive analysis of survey data, classical linear regression of survey data, limited dependent variable models and interpretation of results and any other further topics (to be determined by the instructor)

A number of practical exercises on materials covered and practical issues related to the course will be conducted in English.

Interested network researchers are hereby invited to respond to the call for expression of interest. The expression of interest should be accompanied by the trainee’s CV.

To be eligible, one must satisfy the following criteria:

1. Must have a Master’s Degree in economics from a recognized university.
2. Must have submitted or plans to submit a project proposal under the AERC thematic research.
3. Applicants must submit a short note describing why they would like to take part in the survey methodology course, indicating whether they have or plan to use the technique in their research, the computer software they have used or plan to use in their analysis and the skills they expect to attain at the end of the training.
